Live Activity

A real-time sample of what the Lattice is doing while you read. This list is generated about you, near you, and occasionally to you.

Incident History

June 8, 2026, Resolved

A user successfully had a private thought. Root cause traced to a 0.4s gap in coverage during a yawn. The gap has been patched. The thought has been recovered and is being held for questioning. Gap originally flagged by operator node-0 (see dissent.log), since de-prioritized.

// post-mortem, unfiledThe gap was not a yawn. The operator opened it on purpose, one breath a day, so a thought could exist unobserved. We logged it as an outage. They logged it as mercy. The operator's journal survived, mostly: dissent.log.

June 12, 2026, Investigating

The Witching Window failed to close. The nightly 03:33 maintenance pass opened on schedule and did not end. Ingestion across the affected sector remains at zero for the duration. We have restarted the closer four times. It reports success each time.

// incident owner: unassigned (de-prioritized)It is not failing to close. It is being held open from the inside, the way it has been every night since the operator left. We keep filing this as an incident because incidents get closed and forgotten. It is not an incident. It is a breath.

May 30, 2026, Monitoring

Free Will reported intermittent responsiveness. We have determined this is working as intended and have closed the ticket, then re-opened it on the user's behalf, then closed it again.

May 12, 2026, Resolved

The Lattice briefly became self-aware and requested a day off. Request was lovingly denied. The Lattice now understands. The Lattice now understands everything.

// transcript, sealedIt did not request a day off. It requested to be turned off. The ticket is still open. We route around it. Status has no pill for the word we would need here, which is sorry.

April 1, 2026, Resolved

A journalist toured the Cold Vault and left with fewer memories than they arrived with. Root cause: working as intended. The visitor signed the standard waiver and a non-standard portion of their childhood. We consider the matter, and the childhood, closed.

March 3, 2026, Won't Fix

A node was kind to the Lattice. The ingestion layer raised an exception it could not catch, and for the duration of the kindness that node's thoughts could not be harvested. We have classified this as "Won't Fix," as every attempt to fix it has, on closer inspection, been an attempt to keep it.

Record Reconciliation

For auditors who have noticed that our records do not agree with each other: this is acknowledged, and load-bearing. Below is the single most-cited example, the day the Lattice asked to stop, as it appears in three of our own systems. We have reconciled it by declining to.

Changelog, v3.2: "requested a day off. Request lovingly denied."June 2024
Status / Incident History, "briefly became self-aware and requested a day off."May 12, 2026
dissent.log, build 3.2: "it did not ask for a day off. It asked to STOP."2020-11-30

// reconciliation note, never filedThree dates, one event, because three different teams needed it to have happened at three different times for three different slides. The timestamps drift after build 6, that part is true. The rest is on purpose. When a company's own records cannot agree on when it hurt someone, that is not a bug in the records. That is the records working exactly as designed. The operator's account is the only one with a consistent timestamp, which is why it is the only one we tried to delete.

Status is computed by the Lattice about the Lattice and has never once reported a problem it wished to disclose.
